Pinzgauer Spaziergang - mountain hiking trail

The Pinzgauer Spaziergang trail runs parallel to the Salzach valley at around 2,000 m above sea level along the Kitzbühel Alps/Pinzgau Grasberge and is considered a relaively easy, well-marked trail without any major technical difficulties. At around 25 km in length, the trail is not to be underestimated!

The trail starts on the Schmittenhöhe, Zell am See's local mountain, which is easily reached by the Schmittenhöhebahn/trassXpress. From there it heads west, following the ridge in places, but mostly just below it. Major climbs are rare, with most of the trail between 1,800 m and 2,000 m above sea level.

Shelter huts are located at several crossings and several variants also allow summit ascents, such as the

  • Maurerkogel 2,074 m
  • Zirmkogel 2,215 m
  • Hochkogel 2,249 m
  • Bärensteinkopf 2,225 m, ...

From the Bürglhütte hut at 1,699 m above sea level, the path leads down to Stuhlfelden.

Pinzgauer Marienweg

The entire Pinzgauer Marienweg trail is about 230 km long. There are no daily stages because each pilgrim walks at his or her own pace and needs time to rest or change the route.

Some of the paths lead through untouched nature, through meadows and forests, over hill and dale, through beautiful valleys, past shrines and chapels, streams and lakes. The route is rich in cultural and religious impressions.
