Pinzgauer local train service

Environmentally friendly transport through the Pinzgau.

This narrow gauge railway runs between Zell am See and Krimml, and is the ideal means of transport to explore the area. Particularly popular are the weekly trips with an old steam locomotive. Cyclists can also enjoy the benefits of this railway, and getting to Krimml is no problem.

  • !! Current information !! Due to the violent storms, the route of the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn train between Piesendorf and Krimml has been washed-out and damaged. Therefore, the line between Piesendorf and Krimml isn't passable until further notice. A rail replacement bus service has been set up. Trains between Zell am See and Piesendorf are running according to the timetable. 

Weekend & Holiday Ticket: 

  • Weekend Ticket: up to three people can enjoy unlimited rail travel between Zell am See and Krimml on all weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) for just € 23.00. 
  • Holiday Ticket: On state holidays this special ticket is available for just € 17.00. 

Steam train rides

The local Pinzgau train exists since 1898 and is not only a special attraction for narrow track railway fans. Enjoy a romantic trip through the wonderful Upper Pinzgau landscape on our nostalgia trains.

Steam train ride from Zell am See to Krimml and back. A bus brings you from Krimml station to the car park of the "WasserWunderWelt". From there you have to walk a few minutes to the Krimml waterfalls.

  • Departure Piesendorf at 9.39 am
  • Departure Niedernsill at 9.51 am
  • You may board the nostalgic trains at any of the intermediate stations and buy tickets aboard from the conductor or at the Service Center Mittersill
