News & important information!

Due to landslide and windfall, the Pionier- and Vitalisweg in Niedernsill hiking path (between snack station Burgeck and forest road Mühlbahtal valley) is closed until further notice.

The Klammweg - path no. 2 (from Grabenbäckweg towards Klamm) is closed from 15th April until probably April 2025!

Diversions via Wengerberg or Hauserberg!

The Salzachweg - path no. 13 (from Salzachbrücke Krinnerstraße to Salzachbrücke Kaprunerstraße) is closed until further notice!

The mountain resorts of Piesendorf and Niedernsill are not only a place for people to relax, but also for their pets to enjoy the unspoilt nature. However, there are a few things to bear in mind:

  • Leash law: In Piesendorf and Niedernsill, dogs must be kept on a leash (also in the forest, on hiking trails, etc.). Where necessary, muzzles are also required, e.g. in cable cars, public transport, etc.
  • Dog's dirt: Dog owners must ensure that any dog dirt is removed immediately with a dog dirt bag and disposed of properly.
  • Dog run: In Hummersdorf/Piesendorf there is an off-leash area for dog's :-)
  • Tips for hiking with dogs: Don't leave the marked trails! Keep dogs on a short leash. Keep your distance from animals! If the grazing animals are restless, take a detour. Don't pet the animals (mountain pastures aren't petting zoos).
  • Can I take my dog on activities? Yes, you can find an overview here

The local tax is € 2.05 each person and night from the age of 15 years.

The line between Niedernsill an Krimml was damaged by flooding in July 2021. The line is therefore closed until further notice. A bus replacement service has been set up. Trains between Zell am See, Piesendorf and Niedernsill will run as scheduled.

  • Current timetable
  • Attention! Bicycles can be taken on trains of the Pinzgau Local Railway. Bicycles cannot be taken on buses of the rail replacement service.

The 14-kilometer section between Golling and Werfen, featuring a total of 5 tunnel structures and known as the "oldest motorway tunnel chain in Austria," no longer meets the necessary safety standards. As previously communicated through various media portals, social media channels, and more, extensive renovation work will take place here until June 2025.

As a result, the A10 in this section will be reduced to a single lane. To ensure a relatively traffic-free journey, we recommend the following alternative routes:

  • Coming from the East (Vienna, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary ...)
Alternative route via A9 - Liezen - Ennstal Bundesstraße towards Radstadt/Altenmarkt

If you plan to embark on a trip to the city of Salzburg from Piesendorf Niedernsill, there are no obstacles if you take the alternative route via the "small German corner - kleines Deutsches Eck":

  • Piesendorf Niedernsill - Zell am See - Saalfelden - Lofer - Schneizlreuth (D) - Bad Reichenhall (D) - Salzburg

Additionally, we highly recommend considering public transportation as a convenient alternative. The attractive offers and packages for traveling to the SalzburgerLand region by public transport provide an excellent option to reduce reliance on your car.

Stay informed and check the traffic situation before your departure and return journey.
