Sustainable travel with the Guest Mobility Ticket

With the Guest Mobility Ticket, you can travel in an environmentally friendly way in Piesendorf and Niedernsill all year round. 

It allows included use of buses and trains throughout the entire federal state of Salzburg. The ticket is valid for your arrival within Salzburg, during your stay and for your departure

You receive the Guest Mobility Ticket directly from your accommodation provider, allowing you to get arboud flexibly, stress-free and without the need to search for parking.

Travelling by train

Relaxed and climate-friendly travel to the mountains 

Piesendorf and Niedernsill are easy to reach by train via Zell am See railway station. From there, regional bus services (line 670), the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn train or a taxi will take you quickly and conveniently to your holiday destination. 

Thanks to numerous direct cennections to Zell am See from Austria and abroad, travelling by train is a relaxed alternative to driving. With the Guest Mobility Ticket, you can get around locally with ease using buses and trains. 

NEW: Direct connections to Zell am See with Westbahn

Since December 2025, Westbahn has been running direct services three times a day from Vienna to Zell am See via St. Pölten, Linz and Salzburg - and back again. 

The modern trains offer a high level of comfort, making the journey ideal for weekend breaks, ski holidays or summer escapes in the mountains.

Direct connections with ÖBB

ÖBB also offers regular direct connections from Vienna to Zell am See, particularly at weekends, on public holidays and during peak holiday periods.

Direct connections from abroad

From GERMANY 

During the winter and summer season (19th December 2025 to 12th April 2026 and 22nd May to 1st November 2026), direct ICE services run from Germany to Zell am See, including connections from Hamburg and Munich. Arrival and departure are available on selected days with comfortable lond-distance services.

From SWITZERLAND

Daily EuroCity direct services from Zurich take you straight to Zell am See, offering a relaxed and convenient journey from Switzerland to the SalzburgerLand.

From SCANDINAVIA

Every Friday during the winter season (19th December 2025 to 14th March 2026) and in summer (3rd July to 2nd August 2026), the Snälltåget night train connects Sweden and Denmark with Austria. The route runs from Malmö via Copenhagen to Zell am See, allowing for a comfortable overnight journey to the Alps.

Travelling by car

Fast and easy access to the SalzburgerLand 

Piesendorf and Niedernsill are easy to reach by car from all directions, with clear signposting throughout. The journey takes around 1.5 hours from Salzburg and about 3 hours from Munich. Well-developed motorways and main roads lead directly to your holiday destination. 

Main access routes at a glance 

  • From the NORTH (Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Britain, ...): Via the A8 towards Salzburg or Kufstein, then either through Tyrol or via the "Kleines Deutsches Eck" into the Pinzgau region and on to Piesendorf or Niedernsill 

  • From the SOUTH (Italy, Slovenia, ...): Via the A10 Tauernautobahn towards Salzburg, exit in the Pongau area, then continue towards Zell am See and on to Piesendorf or Niedernsill 

  • From the EAST (Vienna, Czech Republic, Hungary, ...): Via the A1 Westautobahn towards Salzburg, then continue to Piesendorf or Niedernsill 

  • From the WEST (Switzerland): Via the A12 Inntalautobahn to Wörgl, then continue on federal roads towards Kitzbühel and over the Pass Thurn into the Salzach valley to Piesendorf or Niedernsill

Good to know for drivers
  • Motorway vignette: A valid motorway vignette is generally required on Austian motorways. The section between the state border at Kufstein and the Kufstein South junction (A12) is toll-free. The same applies to the section between the Walserberg border crossing and the Salzburg North junction (A1).

  • Winter equipment: In Austria, winter tyres are mantatory from 1st November to 15th April. Snow chains may also be required in wintry conditions.

Comfortable travel to the region 

Piesendorf and Niedernsill are also easy to reach by plane. Several nearby airports offer good connections and allow for a smooth onward journey to the region.

From the airport, you can continue your journey comfortably by train, bus, shuttle or hire car. Travelling by public transport is particularly easy via Zell am See railway station. From there, regional buses, the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn or a taxi will take you quickly to Piesendorf and Niedernsill. 

  • From Salzburg Airport, regional bus line 260 runs directly to Zell am See. 

  • Information on taxis, shuttles and car hire is available directly at the airports or online from the respective providers.

Yes, the Guest Mobility Ticket can already be used for your arrival within the federal state of Salzburg. The prerequisite is that you contact your accommodation provider in Piesendorf or Niedernsill before your arrival and submit your registration details as part of a pre check-in. Once completed, the Guest Mobility Ticket will be provided to you digitally and can already be used for journeys by bus and train.

This depends on your accommodation and your holiday plans. Piesendorf and Niedernsill are small villages without a local bus service or inner-village train connections. Many routes are covered by regional bus and rail services connecting the surrounding areas.

If your accommodation is located in the village centre or close to a bus or train stop, public transport is a convenient option. If your accommodation is situated on higher ground or in a more remote location, having a car on site is often practical - especially for greater flexibility or when travelling with luggage and shopping.

From there, regional bus line 670, the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn train or a taxi will take you to Piesendorf or Niedernsill in a short time. For individual questions regarding onward travel from the railway station or bus stop, we recommend contacting your accommodation provider in advance. 

Yes. Zell am See is well connected by train from within Austria and from abroad. There are regular direct services with ÖBB and WESTbahn, as well as seasonal direct connections from Germany, Switzerland and Scandinavia. This makes travelling by train a relaxed alternative to driving.

A valid motorway vignette is generally required when using Austrian motorways. However, some sections - such as certain border areas - are toll-free. We recommend checking the current traffic situation and toll regulations before travelling.
