The guardian of our region's treasures
Once, Isonta was the name of the Salzach river, flowing wild and powerful through the valley. But the Celts, who lived here more than 2,100 years ago, honoured Isonta not only as a life-giving river - they alos imagined her as a mysterious fairy: the guardian of the treasures of Piesendorf and Niedernsill.
Isonta, with her emerald-green eyes and flowing Celtic robe, watched over the valley's abundant gifts: the crystal-clear streams, the lush meadows, the majestic alpine pastures, and the healing power of wild herbs. She was not only the protective spirit of the Ambisontes - the ancient Celtic people of this land - but also a wise teacher, showing humans how to live in harmony with nature and use its gifts with deep respect.
Even today, the legend of Isonta speaks of this profound connection to nature and the treasures of our valley. At Naglköpfl, her favourite place, her presence is especially strong - in the gentle morning light painting the mountain peaks, or in the whisper of the wind weaving through the trees.
Now, Isonta invites you to discover the treasures of Piesendorf and Niedernsill: the power spots radiating with special energy, the untouched nature of the Hohe Tauern National Park, the idyllic hiking paths and the living traditions of our region.
Let her world enchant you - and uncover the treasures that await.
