TAUERN LAMB SUNDAY at 22^nd September 2024

This day is dedicated to the flavorful lamb. Delight in regional Tauern lamb dishes that will make any food lover's heart soar:

WILD GAME SUNDAY at 29^th September 2024

This deicious Sunday focuses on regional wild game. Enjoy refined creations of venison, roe deer and chamois:

Chamois stew with bread dumplings and apple red cabbage
Porcini roast from young venison with bread dumplings and bacon beans
Hunter's stew - Grilled medallions of roe deer with mushroom sauce, served with spaetzle and wine cabbage
Braised roast of young venison with noodles and chestnuts

Sunday kitchen hours: from 11.45 am to 1.45 pm and from 5.30 pm to 8 pm

The mountain resorts of Piesendorf and Niedernsill are not only a place for people to relax, but also for their pets to enjoy the unspoilt nature. However, there are a few things to bear in mind:

Leash law: In Piesendorf and Niedernsill, dogs must be kept on a leash (also in the forest, on hiking trails, etc.). Where necessary, muzzles are also required, e.g. in cable cars, public transport, etc.
Dog's dirt: Dog owners must ensure that any dog dirt is removed immediately with a dog dirt bag and disposed of properly.
Dog run: In Hummersdorf/Piesendorf there is an off-leash area for dog's :-)
Tips for hiking with dogs: Don't leave the marked trails! Keep dogs on a short leash. Keep your distance from animals! If the grazing animals are restless, take a detour. Don't pet the animals (mountain pastures aren't petting zoos).

Our alpine meadows are not only popular destinations for hikers and bikers, but also valuable habitats for grazing animals.

To ensure your visit remains memorable, it is important to observe certain guidelines when interacting with grazing livestock, especially when accompanied by your dog. Exercise caution when encountering mother cows, as they may be protecting their calves.

Here are 10 rules for respectful interaction with grazing animals:

Avoid direct contact with grazing animals. Do not feed the animals, maintain a safe distance at all time!
Remain calm and do not startle grazing animals!
Mother cows protect their calves. Avoid cows with calves, especially if you have a dog with you!
Always keep dogs under control and on a short leash. If it becomes clear that a cow is going to attack: Unleash your dog immediately!
Stay on designated hiking and biking trails!
If grazing animals block your path, pass them with as much distance as possible, or dismount if cycling!
When approaching grazing animals, remain calm, avoid turning your back, and give them space!
At the first sign of the animals seeming unsettled, remain calm and leave the area quickly!
Respect fences! If there is a gate, use it, close it properly afterward, and cross the pasture swiftly.
Treat the people working here, as well as nature and animals, with respect.

The local tax is € 2.05 each person and night from the age of 15 years.

The line between Mittersill an Krimml was damaged by flooding. The line is therefore closed until further notice. A bus replacement service has been set up. Trains between Zell am See and Mittersill will run as scheduled.
