A holiday in Piesendorf and Niedernsill offers plenty of opportunities to explore the region together with your dog. Whether you enjoy hiking, visiting attractions, or relaxing at mountain huts, here are some important tips for a pleasant stay.

📌 Where must dogs be kept on a lead?
Dogs must be kept on a lead in built-up areas, on hiking trails, and in forests. On public transport and in cable cars, dogs must also wear a muzzle.

🚫 Dogs prohibited
Dogs are not permitted on the hiking trail along the Salzach river between the dog training area in Niedernsill and the Hummersdorf bridge. Please use the Tauern Cycle Path as an alternative.

🐄 Meeting grazing animals - please be considerate
During the summer months, many meadows and alpine pastures are used for grazing. Mother cows are especially protective of their calves. Please follow these recommendations 👉 Keep a safe distance from grazing animals. Always keep your dog on a lead. If a cow behaves aggressively, release your dog from the lead immediately so it can move away.

🐕 Off-leash area
A fenced dog exercise area is available in Hummerdorf (Piesendorf), where your dog can run and play freely.

🏡 Dog boarding
The Trumlinghof in Piesendorf offers dog boarding with a range of flexible care options.

💩 Please dispose of dog waste responsibly
Please use dog waste bags and dispose of them in the designated bins. Proper disposal helps keep grazing areas clean, supports local agriculture, and protects the natural environment for everyone.

🏞️ Activities with your dog
Many attractions and excursion destinations in the region welcome dogs. You can find an overview of dog-friendly attractions here.
