MOUNTAIN YOGA

2nd July to 3rd September 2025 - Schmittenhöhe Zell am See

Every Wednesday, yoga instructor Monika Rauter invites beginners and experienced yogis to a unique mountaintop yoga session. After a short hike to a scenic viewpoint near the Schmitten summit, the yoga mats are unrolled. Surrounded by alpine flowers and mountain meadows, you'll practise energising asanas and calming breathing exercises - all while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views.

SULZBACHTÄLER WILDERNESS AREA

9th July to 27th August 2025 - Neukirchen

Discover the untouched beauty of the Sulzbachtäler wilderness area. Initially, the journey begins with the National Park bus to Abichlalm, where the tour start. The path winds through a sparse larch forest to Aschamalm. From here, you’ll explore off-trail into the heart of the Sulzbachtäler wilderness area to the impressive Untersulzbachkees glacier. The hike retraces the same route back. Experience the pristine nature of this untouched landscape, guaranteed to leave a lasting impression.

KING OF THE SKIES

9th July to 3rd September 2025 - Raurisertal valley

In 1986, the alpine region’s first bearded vulture was released in the Krumltal to reintroduce the “king of the skies”, once eradicated in our area. During the excursion through the romantic Krumltal, you’ll learn about the large birds of prey. At brief stops, spotting scopes are set up to scan the peaks for the birds. With a bit of luck, you can observe not only bearded vultures, but also griffon vultures, cinereous vultures, and golden eagles, among other wildlife.

MEET A RANGER

7th July to 5th September 2025 - National Park Valleys

From Monday to Friday, you can meet the rangers of Hohe Tauern National Park in their natural habitat - the stunning valleys of the Salzburg region. 

Here, you'll gain exclusive insights into the unique flora and fauna of the high Alps and learn why conservation is so important. The rangers will share their passion for nature, tell stories about their daily work, and explain how we can all help protect this extraordinary landscape for future generations. 

It's no surprise that rangers are the heart of the National Park - after all, they know this protected area like the back of their hand!

SCHÖSSWENDKLAMM AND HINTERSEE

9th July to 3rd September 2025 - Mittersill

Discover the power of water at Schösswendklamm, where torrents have carved stunning rock formations over thousands of years. Following the gorge, the trail leads to the beautiful Hintersee, where you'll learn about the unique flora and fauna of the Felbertal valley. On the northern side of the lake, a scenic path climbs to a viewpoint overlooking the valley's rugged cliffs, home to agile chamois. The return follows the same route.

SCHÖDERSEE LAKE

9th July to 3rd September 2025 - Hüttschlag

The tour leads to Ötzlsee, where you officially enter the Hohe Tauern National Park. It continues along a narrow path alongside the Schöderbach towards Arlscharte, deeper into the National Park. At the end of the tour, you’ll reach Schödersee, a special mountain lake referred to as a periodic lake due to its natural underground drainage, which fills only during snwomelt and periods of heavy precipitation.

HOCHFELD MINE - A JOURNEY INTO THE PAST

7th July to 5th September 2025 - Untersulzbachtal valley Neukirchen

Hidden deep withing the Hohe Tauern, the Hochfel Show Mine is a true rarity. Since the 1990s, the former mine has been transformed into an interactive exhibition, offering exciting insights into alpine geology and the history of the National Park. 

During a guided tour, you'll learn how the Tauern Window was formed, how rock formations evolved over millions of years and the important role mining played in this region. A special highlight is the art exhibition "Innenleben" by Mag. art. Michael Alexander Seywald, currently on display in the mine's tunnels.
