Ski bus and ski train - getting to the ski areas

From Piesendorf and Niedernsill, you can reach several ski areas in Pinzgau by ski bus and train. The free ski bus takes you to the MK Maiskogelbahn in Kaprun and the areitXpress in Zell am See. The Pinzgau Lokalbahn train also provides connections to ski areas in the region. 

For a day of skiing on the Schmittenhöhe, take the Pinzgau Lokalbahn train to the Areitbahn stop. If you are heading to Maiskogel or Kitzsteinhorn, change to the ski bus at Fürth-Kaprun station. Ski areas in Upper Pinzgau can also be reached by public transport.

Explore winter with the Pinzgau Lokalbahn train

Discover the winter landscapes of Pinzgau without your own car on the Pinzgau Lokalbahn train. The train connects Zell am See with Piesendorf, Niedernsill and other villages along the Salzach Valley. During the journey, enjoy views of snow-covered meadows, forests and the mountains of Hohe Tauern National Park and the Kitzbühel Alps. 

Whether you are planning a winter hike, a cross-country skiing trip or a leisurely stroll through a nearby village, the railway gives you plenty of ways to explore the region. For journeys towards Krimml, a rail replacement bus service operates from Mittersill.
