Mountain forests provide habitats for wildlife and plants. Furthermore, they are considered recreational areas for people, form an important climatic factor and take on a decisive role in the protection against avalanches or mudflows. Discover the forest habitat with the Natiuonal Park Ranger.

IN THE WINTER REALM OF THE WATERFALLS

The Krimml waterfalls are not only an impressive natural spectacle in summer. Due tot the shady location, only a few rays of sunlight reach the waterfalls and thus beautiful ice formations are created at the appropriate temperatures.

In the winter months, the Hollersbach valley is particularly enchanting. Snow-covered alpine meadows and forests blanketed in hoar frost as well as glistening, icy streams make this excursion especially rewarding. Animal tracks tell of the winter life of the local fauna.

MAGIC WINTER EXPERIENCE IN RAURIS

The snow-covered landscape in the rear Rauris valley - called Hüttwinkltal - is excellent for hiking on snowshoes. On this moderate tour you can enjoy magnificent views of the Sonnblick and the Ritterkopf. In the snow-covered winter landscape you will discover again and again the most diverse animal tracks, which tell you about the winter life of the local fauna.

PRISTINE SULZBACH VALLEYS

The winter transforms the Ober- and Untersulzbach Valley at the foot of the Großvenediger with its snow-covered forests and icy watercourses into a fairytale landscape. On this snowshoe hike you will learn interesting facts about the Sulzbach valleys.

WINTRY PRIMEVAL FOREST IN RAURIS
30th December 2022 till 7th April 2023
Participants are shuttled to the starting point at the Lenzanger car park, then a magnificent snowshoe hike awaits you in the Rauris primeval forest. The hike through snow-covered old arolla pine and spruce trees brings the magic of winter to life. The way back is on a toboggan.
